Four people drown in Karachi

KARACHI: Four people have reportedly drowned at separate locations in Karachi the other day.

Two teenagers, residents of  Bahadurabad have drowned at Sandspit Beach while on a picnic with their friends. Rescue teams recovered the body of one teenager, identified as Rehan, 18, son of Saleem. The search for 16-year-old Hammad Fareed, is under way.

In a separate incident at a beach near the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant, a 20-year-old man, identified as Pintu, also drowned. His body has been recovered by rescue teams. As per police, Pintu was a resident of Nazimabad.

In yet another incident, a young man drowned in the Hub River, within the limits of the Manghopir police station. His body was shifted to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification purposes.

Drowning incidents are common during the summer months when people turn to beaches in large numbers without considering the high tide.
