Enrolment in province’s varsities has increased: governor

Enrolment in the universities of the Sindh has considerably increased during the past several years, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad said in a statement issued on Friday. “There has also been improvement in the research and teaching infrastructure,” he added. The governor, who is also the chancellor of the public sector universities in the province, further said that the faculty and the students should fully utilise facilities available to them for the promotion of education and the research activities.
The governor stressed the need for a good academic atmosphere at campuses for the acquisition of knowledge. According to the statement, the governor performed the inauguration of three departmental buildings at the NED University of Engineering and Technology – the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Polymer and Petrochemical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering.
On the occasion, Dr Ebad said that along with maintaining law and order, promotion of education is also the government’s priority. “The government is taking appropriate measures for this purpose,” he said. The governor was of the view that concerted efforts are needed for the resolution of the problems.
