15-year-old shot dead in Karachi for demanding Rs 25 in compensation

Karachi: A 15-year-old Afghan boy was killed by a flat-owner in Karimabad area on Sunday.

The deceased had asked the flat-owner for compensation amounting to Rs 25 for cleaning the staircase, said police.

Ayaz Malik opened fire on the boy after the latter demanded compensation, said Senior Superintendent of Police Karachi Central.

Noor Agha, 15, was gunned down allegedly by flat owner Ayaz Malik Jeewa, said Azizabad SHO Jamal Leghari.

The victim was an Afghan scavenger who collected garbage from the localities of Karimabad in return for a few rupees, the officer said.

On Sunday, the victim along with his colleague Naimat washed the staircase of the flat owner and requested a small compensation for their services, however, the suspect gunned down the teenager and fled the crime scene.

Agha was rushed to the closest hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Azizabad police registered the case against the culprit and efforts for his timely arrest are underway.
