  • Interior minister appreciates paramilitary forces for securing western border

Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan held a meeting with Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Corps (South) Major General Khalid Javed here on Thursday and discussed issues related to peace and security.

The interior minister congratulated the Frontier Corps chief on his appointment and assumption of the post, and said that the soldiers and officers of the Frontier Corps gave innumerable sacrifices for keeping peace in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, for ensuring internal security and securing the western border.

He said that the whole nation looks at these sacrifices with respect. Due to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps, peace was established particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and generally across the country.

The minister said there was a need to give special attention to training and capacity building of the Frontier Corps soldiers according to the latest trends, regional situation and in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He said that the government has spent Rs 80 billion on establishing new wings of civil armed forces.

“Every effort will be made to increase the capacity of the Frontier Corps and meet their operational needs,” the minister assured the head of the paramilitary forces.
