CM to visit China

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here today in which he reviewed matters regarding his visit to China to speak at an international conference on the business opportunities in Punjab.

The chief minister will leave for China on May 12 where he will participate in the One Belt One Road (OBOR) conference. He will also meet with the Chinese leadership.

During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif will hold meetings with Chinese investors, industrialists and officials of different companies and will also call on the heads of various financial institutions and of energy companies.

Agreements of cooperation in different sectors will also be signed between the Punjab government and China, during the visit. A road show is also being arranged thereto enlighten the Chinese investors on the business opportunities available in Punjab.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, a new era of economic relations has begun between Pakistan and China. He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has enhanced investment opportunities in the country. He said that CPEC is a great gift from China to Pakistan, and is an essential breakthrough for Pakistan in order for it to progress.

He said that the fate of the region will change for the better, with the completion of the CPEC projects.

Shehbaz Sharif said that meetings with the Chinese leadership will yield positive results and economic cooperation between China and Pakistan will further improve, as a result.

Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Sheikh Alauddin, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, PML-N Senior leader Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Special Assistant Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, chairman planning and development and secretaries of concerned departments were present at the occasion.

Commercial Consular of Pakistan in Beijing Dr Arfa Iqbal participated in the meeting through a video link, from China.
