A high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Dengue was presided over by the Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique at the Darbar Hall in Civil Secretariat, Monday. Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir also attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed dengue situation in the province. The attendees of the meeting reviewed the dengue situation in the province. It was stated during the meeting that outdoor and indoor dengue surveillance and awareness activities in the dengue risk districts are regularly being carried out and that situation is fully under control of the administration as only 13 confirmed cases have so far been reported from since January 1, 2017, from different districts; three of the reported cases were from Lahore. Taking notice of the delay in the uploading of the dengue cases on the dashboard by the administration of some districts, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that no leniency will be shown towards such attitude in the future.He directed the responsible individuals to report the case as soon as it is confirmed, and that it must be uploaded on the dashboard, immediately. He also directed the public health experts of Institute of Public Health to carry out an analysis of the dengue cases and prepared guidelines for the departments and epidemiologists accordingly on the basis of research.
Khawaja Imran Nazir directed the concerned departments to fumigate the areas that were at risk of being exposed to the dengue virus. Additional DG Dengue Control Dr Farrukh Sultan informed that outdoor and indoor dengue surveillance is being carried out on a regular basis due to which the situation on zika virus and chikungunya (which are the byproduct of dengue) is also completely under control.
The meeting was also attended by MPA Pir Ashraf Rasool, Special Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Dr Faisal Zahoor, senior officers of all the concerned departments, convener dengue expert advisory group Professor Faisal Masood, Vice Chancellor KEMU Professor Dr Asad Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Saghir Ahmed and CEO Health Lahore Dr Saeed Ghuman.
Punjab Inspector General of Police , Captain (retd) Usman Khatak has said that e-Ticketing project is an excellent idea to solve citizens’ problems regarding traffic police. He directed to implement e-Ticketing system in Lahore immediately by overcoming all the problems causing delay. In beginning, e-challans should only be issued to traffic violators, vehicle details of whom are as per their CNIC, IGP further advised. Close coordination between Safe City IC3 project and traffic police should be ensured to streamline challaning system, especially, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, Rai Ijaz and Project Director IC3, SSP Akbar Nasir should personally monitor work progress on e-Ticketing project to ensure its early completion and implementation in Lahore within one month. The IGP directed to conduct monitoring and rescue operation mock exercises to tackle any emergency situation through IC3 project in which Rescue 1122, Police and other emergency services stakeholders should participate.
IGP stated this while presiding over a meeting regarding e-Ticketing held at Integrated Command, Control and Communication Center, Lahore today. Managing Director PSCA, DIG Ali Amir Malik, DIG Traffic Punjab, Farooq Mazhar, CTO Lahore, Rai Ijaz Ahmed, SSP Safe City Project Athar Ismail and SP Mobiles Lahore, Muhammad Faisal were also present in the meeting. MD Safe City Project Ali Amir Malik while briefing the IGP said that data of one month videos recorded through Safe City cameras are saved in database while recording of terrorism activities and other serious incidents will be kept for 7 years. He told that the process of optical fiber installation is near to completion and cameras will be installed on Motorway Toll Plaza in a few weeks which will enable monitoring of all vehicles entering and exiting the city. While briefing the meeting, DIG Traffic Punjab and CTO Lahore told that 9 digital sign boards for traffic awareness on 5 model roads of the city will be installed within a few weeks. DIG Traffic Punjab further told that summary, regarding training courses of traffic wardens for their promotions, has been sent after which their promotion cases will be sent to promotion boards at earliest. IGP directed to start training courses for promotion of traffic wardens and to give promotions to the successful ones.
