Special Olympics star Usama wins silver in Austria

KARACHI: Special Olympics Pakistan athlete, Usama Aziz from Abbottabad, sponsored by Fashion Pakistan Council, made his parents and the whole Pakistani nation proud by winning a Silver Medal in a 100M and 5th position ribbon in a 50M Cross Country Skiing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games that were held in Austria from 14th – 25th March 2017.

Team Special Olympics Pakistan participated with a contingent of 12 athletes, 4 coaches, 2 officials and 1 Media person in Cross Country Skiing & SnowShoeing. The Games were attended by over 2700 athletes and 1000 coaches from 107 countries of the world. Also included in the delegation were 3 Special Olympics Pakistan youth leaders, highly appreciated for their project idea for an inclusive Pakistan that they presented at the Global Youth Leadership Summit. Not just that but Team Special Olympics Pakistan’s contingent was also successful in winning a total of 16 medals (3 Gold, 7 Silver and 6 Bronze medals) which is a tremendous achievement for them.
