KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has granted permission to Shaheen Air International (SAI) to carry out its international flight operations from Multan and Faisalabad, which were supposed to operate on April 23 and May 2, respectively, but were barred by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) without assigning any reason. This decision was taken at the hearing on May 5, 2017, where the judge disagreed with the CAA’s stance on the issue.

On April 29, 2017, the SHC had ruled in favour of the airline against CAA’s directive to submit documents, within 45 days, for a fresh Regular Public Transport (RPT) License. The court had legally suspended this demand of CAA. The airline was granted an RPT License 26 years ago when it was established.

Following the court’s permission, the SAI’s flight NL 678 and NL 679 (route: MUX-MCT-MUX) will operate as per schedule on May 7, 2017.

The airline management has once again thanked SHC for playing its due role and ensuring that justice prevails over illegal practices.

The permission to fly on new international routes is effective until May 8, 2017, which is the date of the next hearing.
