KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Thursday declared an emergency in all hospitals working under Baldia Uzmi. The mayor also cancelled the leaves of doctors and paramedical staff due to a rapidly spreading Chikungunya virus in the city.
Sources said that the Karachi mayor directed all doctors and paramedical staff that all preventive measures should be taken against the spread of chikungunya, congo virus, dengue and naegleria with the immediate provision of special facilities to patients in Abbasi Shaheed, Sarfaraz Rafique, Landi medical complex, Gizdurd Abad hospitals and others.
A 9- member delegation of the international health department for anti-chikungunya also reached Karachi two days before.
