Punjab government signs agreements with RTEHT

The Punjab government and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust (RTEHT) signed agreements in regard to improvement in healthcare system in Model Town. Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion.

According to the agreement, four hospitals constructed in suburban areas of Lahore; Manawan, Raiwind, Sabzazar and Kahna will be handed over to RTEHT; and the management of blood transfusion centers in Multan and Bahawalpur will also be handed over to RTEHT.

RTEHT will run these projects through Indus Hospital. The health secretaries of Punjab and officials of RTEHT signed these agreements.

CM congratulated the health department team, RTEHT, and the Indus hospital team and said that these are important agreements for the improvement in the healthcare system.

Punjab government also signed an agreement with the German government for the establishment of blood transfusion centers in Bahawalpur and Multan; for Rs 32crore. Under the agreement, these centers will be handed over to RTEHT and Indus Hospital. Six hospitals will be attached with each blood transfusion center of Bahawalpur and Multan respectively; and functioning of these centers will provide blood screening facilities.

CM said that the sale of blood without screening must be prohibited. He said that RTEHT is running a hospital set up in Muzaffargarh with support of Turkey in an efficient manner. He said that the Punjab government has increased the capacity of hospitals from 60 beds to 120 beds and is further increasing facilities through its own resources. This trust comprises of philanthropists which is serving humanity, and that a 150-bed kidney centre has been completed in Multan which will take over the management of this kidney centre in June this year, he added.

He said that the administration hospitals in suburban areas of Lahore will be handed over to RTEHT. This trust will be running 100-bed Manawan hospital fromJune, 100-bed Raiwind hospital from October, and 60-bed Sabzazar hospital, which would be upgraded to 100 beds, from July, he said. 100-bed hospital is under construction in Kahna; while this trust is running mother and childcare hospital in Lidhar as well. After the completion of these hospitals, a 500 bed facility would be provided in suburban areas of Lahore, which would decrease burden on mega hospitals. He said that Punjab government made an investment worth billions of rupees to provide best possible facilities to the common people.
