NAB arrests Punjab Police inspector

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday has arrested a serving Inspector of Punjab Police, Muhammad Ismail on the charges of possessing assets beyond known sources of income.

According to the details, NAB Lahore initiated acquiring details of the assets on an intelligence based tip against said accused in mid-2016. During the course of acquiring data regarding his assets, numerous moveable and non-moveable alleged assets worth millions of rupees unearthed and in addition to that, the accused holds further million of rupees in his bank accounts.

An inquiry was authorised against him on September 2016 in which many assets like Banglow, plots, agricultural lands etc on his and other family members’ names.

Subsequently, an inquiry against Inspector Ismail turned into Investigation in Feb 2017 and to further probe into the embezzlements done by the accused NAB Lahore arrested him from Okara and presented him before an accountability court.  The court granted 7 days physical remand of the accused for further investigations.
