Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on Wednesday once again denied consular access to Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death earlier this month by a Field General Court Martial.
During a meeting with the foreign secretary in Islamabad, Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale requested that consular access be granted to Jadhav, Radio Pakistan reported.
However, pointing out the legal aspects of the case, Janjua told the envoy that Pakistan maintained its decision to deny consular access to Jadhav.
Jajua highlighted to Bambawale that Jadhav was a serving Indian naval officer who was involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan and thus would not be given access.
This is the second time the Indian high commissioner has called on the foreign secretary since the death sentence was handed to Jadhav.
During a previous meeting on April 14, Bambawale had made a similar request, pointing out that India had asked for consular access to the naval officer 13 times before as well but had not received any response.
