The allocation of Rs 130 billion for the economic well-being of small farmers to purchase 4 million tons of wheat is a welcome step by the Punjab government. The move calls for applause as it will help small farmers to flourish and prosper. It is pertinent to mention here that for the purchase of wheat, the government has also established 382 purchase centers and fixed Rs 1300 support price per 40 kg. In order to facilitate farmers, grower representation at all purchase centers will also be ensured. Since agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy therefore, it is hoped that the government would continue its efforts to help facilitate small farmers as the prosperity of farmers is the prosperity of Pakistan.
