Orange cab scheme to launch this year

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting here today to review proposals for launching orange cab scheme and introducing digital system of payments. The chief minister directed the meeting’s attendees to constitute a cabinet committee that would submit final proposals in next few days for both programs. He said that Orange Cab Scheme will inaugurate this year and one hundred thousand vehicles will be awarded to unemployed youth, under the auspices of the scheme, on soft terms. One hundred thousand youths will get jobs due to this scheme and six hundred thousand people from thousands of families will benefit from it, ultimately resulting in increasing job opportunities.

Cm said that Punjab government has already given 50 thousands vehicles to the youth under Apna Rozgar Scheme which has provided unemployed youth with a respectable earning opportunity. He further said that the government has invested billions of rupees in both schemes and like Yellow Cab Scheme the Orange Cab Scheme will also prove fruitful.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the attendees to review the scheme that provides tractors to small cultivators at grace rates.

The cm further said that Punjab government has promoted E-governance to maintain transparency of projects. He said that digital payment system will end corruption and facilitate the people. Digital system will also provide relief to farmers and that the process of redressing any damage they may face through natural disasters will be improved.

Provincial Minister for Finance Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, President Bank of Punjab Naeem-ud-Din Khan, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, chairman bank of punjab, additional chief secretary, secretaries and senior officials of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
