Beds were available in THQ hospital shakargarh

Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir held meeting, through a video-link, with Narowal chief executive officer health, medical superintendent THQ hospital Shakargarh, deputy district officer health Shakargarh, grandfather of the thalassemia patient ; ward in-charge and duty doctors at the time the incident took place were also present in the meeting. The Minister had a detailed discussion with all the participants and inquired about the incident that took place on April 18, when a thalassemia patient lay on the floor during blood transfusion.

The minister was informed by the participants of the meeting that bed occupancy was low on April 18 and that they were available in the ward. The Grandfather of the patient told that he had been coming regularly to the hospital for blood transfusion and on that day patient felt unwell during blood transfusion, so he lay on the floor. During the discussion, no negligence from the hospital’s administration was found as beds were, in fact, available on the said date. However, the minister, still, constituted a committee headed by director health services Gujranwala to probe further into the matter and said that if anyone is found guilty, strict disciplinary action will be taken against him.
