The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Wednesday that the government and Foreign Ministry regularly registers protests with the US government on drone attacks and massive killing of innocent people in Pakistan. This was said in a reply submitted by the Foreign Ministry in the court of Justice Iftikhar Hussain during the hearing of a civil miscellaneous application filed by Barrister Iqbal Jafree against US drone attacks.
The reply was crafted by Foreign Ministry Protocol Deputy Chief (A&F) Zahid Raza whereas Deputy Attorney General Nasim Kashmiri submitted the reply to court. In his reply, the official requested the court to dispose the application as it was added to a petition which the LHC had already disposed of on merit and now there was no case left. He contended unless the orders on the main petition were not set aside, no civil miscellaneous application could be entertained.
The Punjab government submitted in its reply therein that the matter was not related to it, However, it requested the court to grant some time to file a rejoinder. The court accepting the request adjourned the matter till May 12.
