CM reviews progress of RYK’s KFUEIT

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here today which reviewed the progress of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) project in Rahim Yar Khan (RYK).

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that one of the best engineering and information technology universities in Pakistan is being set up in Rahim Yar Khan, and the establishment of KFUEIT will be another splendid gift by the government for the people of southern Punjab. He said that this university will play a significant role in promoting modern knowledge along with equipping the youth of South Punjab with high standard engineering and modern knowledge. He said that this project, like many other development projects, will be unprecedented in terms of transparency and standard.

The chief minister said that setting up of the university at RYK is an important project, and no effort should be spared in its completion in the stipulated period by working round the clock. He said that youth of South Punjab will benefit from fruits of investment of billions of rupees thanks to this university.

He said that there should be PhD facility in every faculty of the university and the university should be exemplary with respect to the human resources, infrastructure, curricular and extracurricular activities. As many as 6,000 male/female students will get an education of engineering and modern knowledge, he added.

CM Shehbaz directed to construct high standard residence quarters for teaching staff, adding that the landscaping and horticulture in the university should be state-of-the-art. “We have to make this university the best university of Pakistan in every respect,” he added.

The chief minister said that the committee will visit RYK this week to see university affairs and he will also pay a visit to the university at the earliest. The CM was briefed about research and educational programmes of the university.

Higher Education Provincial Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Higher Education Commission Chairman Punjab Dr Nizam Ud Din, Information Technology University registrar and concerned officials attended the meeting, while Steering Committee Chairman Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, members of the committee, members national and provincial assembly, higher education secretary, finance secretary, Bahawalpur Division commissioner, Lahore’s University of Engineering and Technology vice chancellor and other concerned authorities participated in the meeting through video link.
