Police have succeeded in arresting the suspects who were producing blasphemous literature and creating anarchy in Khokarki locality where Christian community has been residing along with Muslims.
City Police Officer (CPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said a foreign hand created riots between the two communities and vowed to send all the responsible plotters behind the bars. The riots which erupted three days before had forced more than one hundred Christian families to migrate from the area while some 32 agitators had been sent to jail under the anti terrorist act. A meeting of both communities, convened by the CPO, resulted in a consensus to calm down the situation as well as to rehabilitate the affected people besides stern punishment for the culprits of blasphemy.
The CPO, after the meeting, told journalists that the foreign hand involved in creating anarchy in the area had been exposed and the police had reached the conclusion of the case. He said the situation was created in a planned manner and added that later on many stake holders including land-mafia jumped into it to grab the houses and properties of the affected people on nominal prices. Joint committees of Muslim and Christian youths would voluntarily work to rehabilitate the affected people to settle back their homes and to create interfaith harmony, he said. He further said that two people who were responsible of blasphemy in Khokharki had been arrested and they were not Christians.
