Punjab govt accords approval to RDA to initiate 3 mega projects of Rs 4950m

The Punjab government has accorded approval to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to initiate three development projects including construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road, Ammar Shaheed Chowk Tunnel remodeling and Dry Port Road worth Rs 4950 million under Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Rs 3500 million have been allocated for Rawalpindi Ring Road, Rs 750 and 700 million have been allocated for Ammar Shaheed Chowk Tunnel remodeling and Dry Port road respectively.

Rawalpindi Ring Road which will be about 50.8 kilometers long starting from Pull Channi Shair Alam G.T.Road to Thalian interchange includes 38.3 kilometers of two way track, 12.5 kilometers link road and double road of 6.5 kilometers.

The overall width of two way track will be 300 feet. 5 interchanges would also be constructed on this track.

NESPAK project consultant has drafted a feasibility report in this regard while for acquisition of land, the process of notification under Section 4, Section 17 (6) 4 has been started.

Old feasibility report on remodeling of Ammar Shaheed Chowk project and construction of one tunnel has been refreshed costing Rs 750 million while Rs 700 million will be allocated for Dry Port Road.

The Punjab government is providing the funds for these two projects while these projects would be completed under RDA following the award of contract .
