Students and faculty of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College are celebrating a ‘Green Week’ under the slogan ‘Plant for the Planet’ in order to spread awareness about global warming and promote tree plantation in the country.

The students have already planted as many as 350 saplings out of their target of 500.

PGMI Management Board Chairman Salman Ghani and Principal Ghiyas-un-Nabi Tayyab informed the media that challenges to human survival were increasing due to rising global temperatures. Snow cover is decreasing while ocean water levels are rising day by day, they said.

Therefore, they said, more and more awareness is required to accelerate efforts against global warming. They lauded the students of the college for taking a step in the right direction by celebrating ‘Green Week’ and termed it a healthy and useful activity, adding that it would improve the natural atmosphere and even prove beneficial for generations to come.
