KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Thursday lashed out at the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for not supplying enough gas to the province.
The Sindh chief minister, while addressing the Sindh Assembly, said that the province generated 70 percent of gas but it was being deprived of it as the gas supply was suspended over the weekend in many parts of the province.
He said that the SSGC had been asked for the provision of gas for the testing of a power plant for the last four months but the company didn’t supply.
Murad warned that if the demand is not met, the gas supply to rest of the country could be stopped which was supported by the assembly members.
He asked the members of the assembly for their support to this effect and they thumped their desks in approval.
He further said that a power plant was established at Nooriabad with a production capacity of 100mw and an accord was also signed with the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) to purchase it but later it denied saying that it had a surplus of electricity which the chief minister termed a blatant lie.
He said that the people of the Hyderabad were facing load shedding of long hours like rest of the areas of the province.
