PU to set up medical college

Punjab University (PU) is planning to establish a medical college in the provincial capital to provide world-class medical education as well as quality research facilities to local students.

An impressive inauguration ceremony for the office of the Punjab University Medical College was held here on Tuesday with Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani as chief guest.

PU Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Moin Nasir said that medical education was necessary but high-quality research was also a top priority. He vowed that Punjab University would be improved will it was one of the best universities in the world. The VC said that the PU’s medical college would be a world-class institution equipped with the latest facilities to conduct complicated surgeries.

PU Acting Dean Syed Awais briefed the attendees regarding the details of the project. Later, the higher education minister inaugurated the office of the Punjab University Medical College.

PU Academic Staff Association (ASA) President Javed Sami, ASA Secretary Iftikhar Tarrar, faculty members, and students also attended the ceremony.
