A landslide in the Baldia gulshan ghazi area of Karachi left five people dead, at least four injured in the early hours of Thursday.
According to details, a giant piece of rock fell on a house killing five people on the spot. The deceased belonged to the same family, according to SP Baldia town. He further said that the rescue teams managed to save one woman and child, however, a few are still feared to be buried under the rubble.
Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar expressed his grief over the incident. Akhtar also said that houses are being illegally built on mountains and that the Building Control Authority should look into the matter.
The injured have been shifted to the nearby hospital.
Rescue operation is underway.
