CM attends funerals of census team blast victims

The funeral prayers of those who were killed in an attack on a census team at Bedian Road on Wednesday was offered at Ayub Stadium in the Cantonment.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Governor Rafique Rajwana, Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Saadiq Ali, provincial ministers, the chief sectary, IG police, other civil and military officials, and a large number of people from all walks of life attended the last rituals of the departed.

Shehbaz Sharif laid floral wreaths on the coffins and offered fateha for the dead. Later on, the chief minister and other officials attended the funeral prayer of a martyred official of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Awais, at the PAF airbase.

The CM paid a tribute to Awais’s service to the country and expressed his heartfelt sympathy. He offered his condolences to the family and prayed for the departed. Those who sacrifice their lives to maintain peace in the country are heroes and the entire nation is proud of them, he said.

Shehbaz Sharif Chief Minister vowed that their sacrifice would not be in vain.
