LSE to hold conference on macroeconomic management

The Lahore School of Economics (LSE) is holding its Seventh Annual Conference on the management of the Pakistan Economy from May 4 to 6 at LSE’s Burki campus, read a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the press release, the theme of this year’s conference is “Financial Sector Development and Management”.
The conference will bring together a group of distinguished researchers and policymakers from across the globe, who will discuss policy issues in financial sector development and macroeconomic management. LSE Rector Dr Shahid Amjad Chaudhry will open the conference and State Bank of Pakistan Governor Shahid Kardar will deliver the inaugural address.
Researchers from PIDE, Quaid-e-Azam University, NUST, Institute of Business Management Karachi, LUMS and a number of international universities will take part in the conference. The conference will last three days and will consist of five sessions.
The first session will cover matters concerning macroeconomic management and the role of instruments of fiscal and monetary policies in controlling inflation. The second session will evaluate the impact of financial sector reforms and effectiveness of financial intermediation and in reducing financial repression. The issues of the linkages between financial sector performance and monetary policy will be the focus of the third session, while capital markets, their governance and performance will be discussed in the fourth session.
