The Rafi Peer Theatre announced this year’s Mystic Sufi Festival 2011 on Tuesday. The show that will continue from 8pm till midnight will be launched on May 5 at the Al-Hamra Arts Council, Gaddafi Stadium. They representatives of the Rafi Peer theatre said that the festival would celebrate the tradition of devotional expression through the performing arts in Muslim and other faith communities and added that the performances are expected to enable and appreciate Islam’s peaceful and pluralistic traditions. They said commencement of the Mystic Sufi Festival 2011 had particular relevance in current era when so many misconceptions had created a gap between the moderates and the conservative.
They also hoped that the experience would assist in developing an understanding of the Muslims who seek the middle path of balance between faith and world, avoiding extremes. Over 400 artists from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Muslim countries will participate in the four day festival through various musical pieces, qawwalis, zikr, kalams, songs and dance.
