The QMobile Hum Bridal Couture Week (QHBCW) Day 2 was attended by the who’s who of the fashion, entertainment industry with high expectations after the successful end of Day 1.

The bridal extravaganza is being hosted in Karachi by Hum Network and styled to perfection by Sweet Touch.

Day 2 witnessed a total of seven designers showcasing their latest collections, where gold was seen as the dominant colour in nearly all the collections.

Amina Yasmin by Mansoor Akram opened the night as Sanam Chaudhry walked the ramp with a black and gold outfit. The collection had sari’s, long kameez for men, lehenga with straight shirts. The intricate work was inspired by cultural traditions with flashy stonework on the shirts and kameez. The simple embroidery on the men’s wear was the highlight of the collection. Neelam Munir along with Sanam show stopped for Amina Yasmin by Mansoor Akram in a gold net and chiffon lehenga choli. This was not really the best opening to the show.

Next up were Ayesha and Usman Qamar’s collection titled ‘Enchanted Garden’ was all about elaborated silver work on every outfit. The pastel colour palette for this collection with grey and peach colour’s dominating the collection. Not only that, floral embroidery and appliqué were seen in most pieces. This collection did not lose its ethnic sensuality with raw silk gowns, palazzo pants and short shirts. Not only that, the organza jacket was surely a highlight of the collection. Sunita Marshall show-stopper for the duo.

Faika Karim was next in line to display her collection ‘Noorie’, not really the best one in the act. The traditional lehenga choli’s, long shirt’s with silk/organza trousers dominated the ramp fro the collection. The heavily embellished work on the outfits did not do justice to the high level of grandeur. Aiza Khan walked as the showstopper for the collection. Unfortunately, even she couldn’t pull off the red and gold outfit. Better luck next time.

The last collection for Act 1 was Umsha by Uzma Babar. The bold colour palette for the collection ‘Forever’ in reds, bronze, gothic olive was seen on the ramp. Actress Syra Shahroz showstopper for the designer wearing a red choli and an orange lehenga, along with her Chalay Thay Saath co-star Kent. Zhalay Sarhadi and Mansha Pasha were also the showstoppers for the designer.

Just as the act ended, the audience was not as satisfied as they were on the previous day. The next Act featured collections by veteran designer Fahad Husayn, QMobile star Ahmad Sultan and a special segment featuring the biggest names in the fashion industry.

Fahad Husayn’s collection was a breather for the audience as they sat back and enjoyed the distinct and memorable collection titled ‘ Dara Shikoh & Sunehri Churail.’ The collection was all about heavily embellished lehenga choli/shirts and simple silk thread embroideries kameez for men with shawls. The delicate handwork and extraordinary craftsmanship left the audience in admiration for the collection.

Mehwish Hayat and Azfar Rahman walked the ramp as showstoppers for the designers in a lovely gold bridal lehenga choli with the neatly done gold and white outfit respectively. This man sure had his lehenga choli game set.

The second last designer for the day was the QMobile star Ahmad Sultan displaying his collection ‘Kingdoms of Alliums.’ This collection was a mixture of western and eastern outfits with a soft/pastel colour palette and intricate embroidery. Not only that, the use of gold belts in every outfit was the highlight of the collection. We totally loved the gold metallic belts. The collection featured peplum tops, lehenga cholis and Farshi ghararas. Hira and Mani showstopper for the designer.

The last collection for the night was ‘The Classic Red’, the special segment featuring the well-known names in the industry. Since Day 2 featured mostly red and gold outfits, the segment names suggest that this was all red too. It also featured a special performance by the young and talented Asim Azhar, who got the audience dancing in their seats as he performed.

The idea of the segment was to keep the traditional concept of a red bridal dress intact. Because red is as traditional as one can go. The designers featured in this segment included Ali Xeeshan, Adnan Pardesy, Elan, Farah Talib Aziz, Karma, Sania Maskatiya, Shamaeel Ansari, Tena Durrani, Maheen Ghani-Taseer, Mehdi, Misha Lakhani, Zaheer Abbas, Zara Shahjahan and Faraz Manan, where all these couturiers showcased one of their signature collection pieces.
