An inquiry conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against their six officials for their alleged involvement in purchase of a land on expensive rates for the FIA Housing Society is still pending with the Ministry of Interior.

The inquiry findings were submitted to the ministry for the approval of lodging an FIR against the officials four months ago, but to no avail. The officials were part of a committee to purchase 640 kannal land at Mallot area near Chak Shehzad. In the inquiry, the investigation agency has found irregularities in purchase of the land.

The committee was authorised to purchase 3000 kannal land for the FIA Housing Society which was registered back in 1984. After grounding previous committees, another committee was formed in 2013 in which FIA director general was also a member. The officials were summoned on March 14 for the cross examination.

According to sources, replies of the officials were not satisfactory. FIA director Usman Anwar has conducted the inquiry in which a deputy director, a deputy director accounts, finance secretary, steno-typist and one other official were accused. When contacted, FIA director general Amlesh Khan said that he cannot comment on this issue.

He questioned that how he can direct any committee to resign. He said that the committee was formed through elections between three separate panels. “Some members resigned from the previous committee, and some have also filed petitions against me before courts,” he said.
