KARACHI: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar while taking serious notice of disconnection of the supply of electricity to 224 schools, has directed the schools and colleges’ secretaries to look into the matter and resolve the issue at the earliest in order to provide a peaceful environment to the students.
‘Sindh High Court has given remarks that the electricity to the educational institutions should not be disconnected but despite these remarks, K-Electric is continuously disconnecting the supply of electricity to the schools and colleges, that is a sheer violation of the human rights’, said a statement on Wednesday.
The minister said that it was a very common complaint against K-Electric of sending excessive billing to the educational institutions and this complaint should be addressed by the management of K-Electric at earliest.
Meanwhile, the Education and Literacy minister has also taken notice of delay in supply of free text books to schools and directed the Sindh Text Book Board chairman to ensure timely supply of free textbooks to the schools so that the students might start their new academic session on time.
He also expressed his displeasure over the news regarding cheating in the on-going exams of classes 9th and 10th and asked the relevant secondary educational boards and other stakeholders to curb cheating in exams at all cost.
