Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that local bodies’ representatives should resolve the problems of their districts, cities, and villages through hard work and around the clock efforts, adding that progress and prosperity could only be achieved through teamwork.
He expressed these views while addressing the Local Bodies Leadership Convention 2017 at a local hotel here on Monday.
The chief minister said that there will be a system of reward and punishment in the new local bodies system and performance audits will be conducted along with financial audits. He said that local bodies’ representatives will have to play their role in the timely, quality, and transparent completion of development projects and their consultation will also be included for these projects.
Shehbaz Sharif said that he has given clear instructions to district administration and police to extend all out cooperation to local bodies representatives regarding development projects and action will be taken against them in case of any complaint in this regard.
Mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen, and vice chairmen of all provincial district councils participated in the convention.
Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, and Manshaullah Butt also spoke on the occasion while the local bodies and finance secretaries gave a briefing regarding the local bodies system.
