Director passports involved in collecting bribes from Chinese nationals

KARACHI: According to reports, Director Passports in Karachi Khalid Memon and the Federal Ministry of Interior’s assistant Ramzan have collected bribes from Chinese nationals, worth millions of rupees within few years.

This was revealed by a front man of the accused, Rizwan, before the Federal Investigation Agency.

The investigation revealed that Chinese nationals were being charged between Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000 to get their visas extended, whereas, they have been exempted from visa extension fee under the law. Both the accused have also been taking bribes from Afghan nationals for the same purpose.

Rizwan also said that estimated amount collected was around one crore rupees (Rs 10 million) every month.

On the other hand, the FIA has obtained data of more than one thousand visa extension cases, whereas police are still on the lookout for Khalid Memon.
