IHC postpones hearing of social media case till March 31

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court on Monday has postponed the hearing of the blasphemous content case until March 31.

According to details, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui conducted the hearing today, during which Interior Secretary told the court that at least three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case until now.

The judge asked State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman to explain why the matter has not been resolved yet. Whereas, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that it’s a big achievement that Facebook has removed disrespectful content from their website on their appeal.

On the other hand, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have blocked 937 Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and 10 websites of Proscribed Organisations (POs) against abuse of Internet and Social Media.

The agencies concerned also sealed 70 shops and confiscated 5,141 equipment regarding this case.
