Sindh University, Jamshoro has outrightly denied the existence of any letter asking for an apology from a student for celebrating Holi-the Hindu festival of colours.
A Hindu student, Deepak has allegedly been asked to submit written apology over celebrating Holi on campus in Sindh University Jamshoro, according to social media. The apology has been demanded by the Sindh University in a document written in Sindhi. However, when Pakistan Today contacted university spokesperson to throw light on the matter, he rejected the existence of any such notice.

Religious minorities in Pakistan have not only been marginalised but have also faced outright persecution on a regular basis. Recently Allama Ashraf Jalali, a leader of Pakistan Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaat, issued a ‘Kufr fatwa’ against PM Nawaz Sharif for ‘blaspheming’ against Islam; whereas retired Air Marshal Shahid Latif also accused him of committing blasphemy, which provoked a huge reaction from the civil society and social media. This response came after a speech given by the PM to celebrate holi with the Hindu community in Karachi. During the speech, he delivered a speech saying ‘no one can force others to adopt a certain religion.’
