Jahangir Khan Tareen has decided to save his brainchild – community dairy farming, which was initiated under him through Pakistan Dairy Development Company (PDDC). His company, JDW Sugar Mills, will fund the establishment of 30 community dairy farms in Rahim Yar Khan over a period of three years.
Considering it one of the most successful initiatives of the PDDC, former Federal Minister for Industries and Special Initiatives Jahangir Khan Tareen has announced that the extension of the PDDC’s community dairy farms will further benefit some 600 peasant farmers in Rahim Yar Khan. Currently there are some 58 community dairy farms in operation throughout Pakistan, comprising some 1,100 small farmers.
The idea has proved to be the most successful model which has not only boosted the incomes of small dairy farmers but also improved living standards of the locals where these community dairy farms were established.
