Police recover 35 litres of moonshine in twin cities

RAWALPINDI: Police in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad continued crackdown against illegal weapons, drugs and liquor on Friday.

Rawalpindi police have arrested 11 lawbreakers and recovered 3.1 kilogrammes of hashish, 35 litres of homebrew liquor, 98 bottles of smuggled liquor and two pistols.

Meanwhile, in Islamabad, Khana police conducted a search operation in its jurisdiction.

A contingent of Islamabad police and Rangers surrounded the Shakrial area and went door-to-door screening houses and the people. Women police commandos played a prominent role in the operation in which apart from police officials experts of BDS were also present.

They checked several houses, hotels and shops and detained two people for questioning.

The suspects had a large cache of licensed weapons including three 12 gauge shotguns with 150 cartridges, three 9mm pistols, a submachine gun, a 44 bore rifle and an MP-5.
