RAWALPINDI: At least 26 suspects including 13 Afghanis were arrested during joint search operations conducted by Punjab Rangers, Police and Intelligence agencies in Dera Ghazi Khan, Sadiqabad, Lahore, Narowal, Islamabad and Attock, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Saturday.
A cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered during the raids.
According to ISPR, DG Rangers Maj Gen Azhar Naveed Hayat visited various areas to direct the operations.
Pakistan Army last month launched anti-terrorist offensive following a surge in recent terror attacks in the country, the latest being the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine suicide attack that claimed the lives of more than 100 people.
According to the Army, the operation aims at indiscriminately eliminating residual and latent threat of terrorism, consolidating gains of operations made thus far and further ensuring the security of the borders.
