Women necessary for nation’s development: minister

Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu in his message on the eve of the 108th International Women’s Day saluted the indomitable courage and stellar achievements of Pakistani women and said that the Punjab government was committed to empowering women. Women have an indispensable role in the socio-economic development of our country, he said.

The provincial government has also taken measures in line with the federal government to ensure the promotion and protection of women’s rights as envisaged in the convention on elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (CEDAW).

Sandhu said that the participation of women was necessary for the sustainable development of the country and that the Punjab government was committed to redoubling it unwavering efforts for achieving gender equality.
