WELLINGTON: South African megastar AB DeVilliers crashed through the 9000 run barrier, wiping out Ganguly’s name from the records on Saturday.
De Villiers is the 18th player and only the second South African behind Jacques Kallis to reach the 9,000 mark but remains at the top with an average of 53.86 and is the only one of all of the leading players to have a strike-rate better than 100.
India’s Sachin Tendulkar is the leading the table with 18,426 ODI runs but with a staggering average of 44.83 and a strike rate of 86.23.
De Villiers’ highest ODI score is an unbeaten 162 against the West Indies two years ago.
