Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting here on Monday to review the findings of the anti-corruption department regarding irregularities in the working of the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation and the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency.
The anti-corruption department director general presented a preliminary report regarding the findings at the meeting.
The chief minister took strict notice of the irregularities in the land and properties of the Punjab Cooperative Board of Liquidation and ordered the dismissal of the board members and the suspension of the chairman.
He said that the anti-corruption department should take action as per the law against persons known to have committed violations and register FIRs against them. He ordered a complete audit of the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation and said that the audit should be done by the most reputable firm.
Shehbaz Sharif said that a new board should be constituted and organised immediately. He said that legal requirements had been set aside for selling valuable land belonging to the board. Investigations against those responsible should be completed at the earliest as the selling of property without the required process of auctioning was also illegal, he added.
Taking strict notice of the violations taking place in the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, the chief minister ordered action to be taken against those responsible for irregularities in the allotment of plots to low income families in Quaidabad, Khushab district.
He ordered the suspension of those responsible of allotting plots illegally and said that action should be taken against those violating established procedures. He said that the anti-corruption department should present a report after conducting an audit of all land development schemes in the province.
The chief minister said that there was no room for those committing corruption and that those responsible would not escape punishment. Those violating the policy of transparency have no right to remain on their posts, he added.
Provincial Minister for Housing Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari, the chief secretary, chairman of the chief minister’s inspection team, the additional chief secretary, law secretaries, and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
