The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the hearing of former Federal Minister Hamid Saeed’s Hajj corruption case till February 20.
Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani of the IHC has conducted the hearing of the case on Friday. The court has ordered the Hajj director generals Rao Shakeel and Aftab-ul-Islam, respectively to hire the services of an advocate.
During the course of the hearing, Justice Kiyani has observed that the Supreme Court has ordered to decide the case within fifteen days and hearing would be conducted even on Saturday and Sunday if required.
Latif Khosa, counsel of petitioner— Hamid Saeed Kazmi— has appeared before the court and said, “My client did not directly make arrangements for the residences of pilgrims.”
He is also alleged of spending Rs1.3million on the marriage ceremony of his daughter.
The counsel of petitioner further said that Kazmi is a religious scholar and his family is suffering because of these allegations of Hajj corruption.
The decisions of cabinet division were endorsed by the secretary Hajj. The bank balance of the petitioner was Rs 7.5 million prior to assuming the charge of the ministry and it remained Rs at 1.5 million when he left the charge.
The Saudi government has apologised from Government of Pakistan on the provision of substandard residences to pilgrims.
The FIA has submitted all the record regarding Hajj corruption in the IHC.
