Azad Jammu and Kashmir police have further beefed up security measures in the backdrop of certain terror incidents, particularly an assassination attempt on a cleric two-day ago here, in order to avoid any untoward incident.
A high-level meeting with Inspector General Police (IGP) Bashir Memon in the chair on Friday decided to take special security measures outside the mosques and other sacred places and enforce strict checking at all entry points to AJK.
IGP directed police officers of all the regions to take special measures and keep a vigilant eye on suspicious persons besides enhancing security at sensitive places. He also appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and inform the security forces about any suspicious person or thing.
The IGP, with special reference to an assassination attempt on a cleric, said a high-level team was constituted which was headed by deputy inspector General (DIG) Sardar Gulfraz to investigate the incident. The search was going successfully and the culprits would be apprehended soon, he added.
