The 9th National Women’s Cycling Championship got off to a thrilling start here on Thursday and Raheela Banu of WAPDA enjoyed an opening day limelight. The only event of the day was contested in the 500 metres time trial and Raheela timed 40.98 seconds to win the category title. She was followed by Army’s Sabia Nisar who timed 43.59 seconds while Punjab’s Anam Mahmood was third.
All the affiliated units of PCF including Army, Railways, WAPDA, Sui Southern Gas Company and all the four provinces and FATA are participating in the event. The opening ceremony which was held at the cycling velodrome was performed by Sharyar Ali Mailk, Senior Executive Guard Group.
