Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and film star Meera whom he launched into Indian film industry a few years back are now locked in a war of words. Meera started her career in the Indian film industry with film Nazar, which was directed by Bhatt’s wife Soni Razdan. Over the years, Meera’s film career in India hasn’t gone anywhere and now she’s blaming Bhatt for it.
In fact, she has accused Bhatt of slapping her. Bhatt, who is presently trying to seek pardon for the 80-year-old Pakistani prisoner Dr Saiyyad Mohammad Khaleel Chishty from the Indian government, says he is saddened by Meera’s accusation. “At a time when one is trying to obtain a pardon for Dr Chishti, comes this irresponsible allegation by Meera to the press,” he said. “Meera has alleged that her career in Bollywood has not taken off because of me. She also claims that I slapped her,” Bhatt tweeted.
Bhatt went on to add that Meera is unbalanced and needs help. “She had said something close to this in the past. I ignored it then. But now I need to say thus far and no further. Meera needs medical help and counseling. I hope this filmy trivia won’t obscure the more serious issue of obtaining pardon for the 80 year old Pakistani prisoner Dr Chisty!” he added.
