LTC takes action against unlawful public transport

The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has taken stern action against the numerous public service vehicles that had no route, permits, or fitness certificates, and were overcharging.

3,813 public service vehicles without fitness certificates were challened in February, while 246 public were impounded in various police stations, including Wahdat Road, Factory Area, Chowki Raja Market, Shafiqabad, Gari Shahu, Muslim Town, and Gulberg. Fines were imposed on 95 public transport vehicles, whereas 973 tickets were issued to public service vehicles that were being run without route permits.

LTC CEO Khawaja Haider Latif on Tuesday said that the main aim of the LTC is to impart affordable and safe transport facilities on various urban routes, while reiterating that it was the duty of private transport operators to be a responsible part of society by ensuring compliance with existing public transport laws.
