PM’s office says premier will visit Karachi tomorrow to witness multinational naval exercise
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has extended his gratitude to the countries participating in the AMAN-17, saying this multinational naval exercise would be an endeavour of readiness for the promotion of peace in the region.
According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier is due to visit Karachi on Tuesday to witness the naval exercise in person.
He also affirmed that being a major stakeholder in maritime security of Arabian Sea, Pakistan was fully committed to ensuring freedom of navigation and lawful maritime order.
“Maritime security challenges in the Indian Ocean are multidimensional and multifaceted. Threats like maritime terrorism, drug trafficking, and piracy have acquired international dimensions. Cooperation between international navies imperative to counter these emerging threats,” the PM said in the statement.
During his visit, PM Sharif will also be meeting with the Sindh governor and chief minister and will get briefings on progress on infrastructure projects, including the Green Line Mass Transit, Lyari Expressway, and the Karachi Circular Railway projects. The premier will also be briefed about the Karachi Bulk Water Supply (K-IV) project.
