The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decided on Wednesday to formulate a common charter of demands and present it to the government as preconditions for their joining the cabinet as coalition partners, along with a firm assurance from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s top leadership to implement their proposed national agenda.
“The central command of both parties decided that they would formulate a common charter of demands (national agenda) seeking immediate tackling of the economic meltdown, ending the energy crisis, containing poverty/unemployment, arresting rampant corruption in public sector organisations and curbing terrorism under resolutions passed by the joint sitting of the parliament.”
“If the government gives firm, public assurances to the PML-Q and the MQM that it would address these issues on a priority basis by taking coalition partners fully onboard, both parties will announce becoming part of the federal cabinet,” said the source, adding that both parties would also include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman in the formulation of their agenda.
