CM praises SSD for CPEC security arrangements

LAHORE: Special Security Division (SSD) Commandant Maj-Gen Abid Rafique called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and briefed him about the security arrangement plans for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Provincial Minister for Anti-Terrorism Col (R) Muhammad Ayub, Interior Secretary Maj (R) Azam Suleman, Punjab General Operations Additional Inspector Arif Nawaz, Special Security Division Brigadier Commander Waseem, Brigadier Maqbool and military officials were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister expressed satisfaction over security arrangements made by the SSD. The two sides reiterated their resolve to ensure foolproof security for the CPEC projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that the CPEC would prove to be a game-changer for Pakistan, and China had made a huge investment of $50 billion under the CPEC.

The CM said, “CPEC is our collective destination and it would benefit the whole nation”.

The CM appreciated the collective measures taken by the political and military leadership to ensure security of the CPEC projects.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the SSD had taken measures in an effective manner for the security of the CPEC and Commandant SSD Maj-Gen Abid Rafique and his team deserved praise and greetings.

Sharif said that to achieve the objectives of CPEC, “we have to move forward with an excellent coordination”.

The CM said all the projects under the CPEC were being completed speedily and the initiative had opened new avenues of investment in Pakistan and the Punjab government had also established a Special Protection Unit for security of the CPEC projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Maj-Gen Abid Rafique said the security of the CPEC was in safe hands adding that “we are working jointly for completion of the projects”.
