The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has set up free 3-day free hepatitis B vaccination camps for its employees and residents, a DHA official said on Tuesday.

Hepatitis B vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the lethal virus, he said, adding that the DHA Medical Centre had established free hepatitis vaccination camps at three different places for the employees and residents of DHA.

The camps were established at the DHA Head Office, DHA Medical Centre, and Defence Authority Degree College.

The vaccines were administered to people visiting the camps under the supervision of DHA doctors and expert paramedical staff.

The shots in the vaccination series (3 shots at different times) provide protection against the virus for at least 20 years.

DHA Administrator Shahid Hassan Ali said that the DHA attaches utmost importance to the welfare and well being of the public and accords the highest priority to the promotion of healthcare facilities for the community, considering it a fundamental socio-corporate obligation.

A large number of people visited the camps and to be vaccinated. Free vaccination camps will be established at all DHA clubs next week, the DHA official added.
