Condemning drone attacks won’t help, says Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that drone attacks could not be stopped through condemnatory statements, rallies and sit-ins and the nation must unite against the same. He said innocent people were being killed in the US drone attacks. He was addressing a public gathering after inaugurating wheat harvesting at Chak No. 153 Murad of Hasilpur in Bahawlapur. He said, “The time has come for us to rely on our own resources and we should break the begging bowl and put the country on the road to progress while following the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam.
PML-N lawmakers in National Assembly and Provincial Assembly, party workers, farmers and a large number of notables from the area were present on the occasion.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Allah Almighty has blessed the motherland with rich resources and the country must not be dependent on others. He said that the Punjab government has taken steps to improve agriculture sector in the province and Rs. 4 billion have been given to the farmers as subsidy under green tractor scheme. He said Punjab government would purchase 4 million tonnes of this year. CM announced setting up of Rescue 1122 centre in Hasilpur, construction of Girls Degree College in Choona Wala and launching of MA classes in Hasilpur Boys Degree College. He also announced construction of sports stadium in Hasilpur and up-gradation of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, a Korean delegation associated with transport sector called on the chief minister on Wednesday. The delegates expressed their interest in transport sector in Punjab. On Wednesday, the CM also expressed sorrow over the demise of mother of Mian Aamir Mehmood, former Lahore Nazim and Chief Executive of Dunya TV. In his condolence message, the CM prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family.
