Top seed Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan and Imran Shoukat reached the semi-final s of the ongoing CDA Margalla National Ranking Tennis Tournament here at PTF Tennis Complex on Wednesday. The semi-finals will be played on Thursday (today) at same venue.
Aqeel Khan outclassed Asim Shafik without conceding a single set at 6-2 and 6-3 while his brother Yasir Khan eliminated former Davis Cupper Hamid ul Haq in straight set. The score-line was 6-0 and 6-3. Jalil Khan thrashed Mohammad Abid in similar style at 6-0 and 6-2. However, Imran Shaukat had to struggle hard to overcome Faizan Khurram in a well contested three set match. In the semi-finals, Aqeel will face Yasir Khan while Jalil Khan will play against Imran Shaukat today. In the boys Under-18 singles, Mohammad Abid, Raja Shahid, Ahmed Ch. and Faizan Khurram moved to the semi-finals by eliminating their respective opponents. Ahmed Ch. made the major upset by beating second seed Usman Rafiq in a well contested three set match. Mohammad Abid will face Raja Shahid while Ahmed Ch. will play against Faizan Khurram today.
